Summer is here

Summer is officially here and only 8 days left until summer hollidays for the children. This can be a wonderful time as long as we do not let the kids get bored. So today I asked My DD to sit down with my DS after school and make a list of things they would like to do this summer. I know I am dealing with an 8 and 5 year old so I did ask them to be reasonable...Disneyland is OUT of the question. When I gave this task to them I did tell them I will do my best to get as much done on their list as possible. I am very curious , however, to see what types of things they put on their list.
I am hoping they have things like picnics, nature walks, swimming, etc. I will keep you updated after I get this list.

  1. Too cute! I think you will be surprised with the simplicity of their list. Kids love to do such simple things like picnics and nature walks. Often times it's the parents that want to do the complicated and costly outings.

It always makes me think of when the kids were really little and they'd have fun playing with the boxes their gifts came in!

  2. What a great idea ... they'll have even more fun knowing that the activity was their idea. Can't wait to see what they come up with ... bet it will be brilliant!

BTW ... thank you for following my blog. You are my 500th follower. WhooHoo! I'm on hiatus from blogging right now but ... I'm going to do a quick post letting my readers know that we're up to 500 and sending them here to visit the 500th follower. :)

Have a great day ... and thanks, again!

  3. I have decided that it is rather difficult to get ideas from my children. All my 5 year old cared about ( or at least the only thing he mentioned ) was swimming. My DD on the other hand had a few ideas. Her ideas were spending time with her best friend, swimming, going to the fair etc...
I had to jump in and offer some ideas so I could get to the point I was trying to make, and that was I dont want them to get bored and start driving me crazy 2 weeks into summer hollidays.
The ideas that I offered ( and were agreed upon by both children were as follows; swimming, nature hikes, treasure hunts, crafts, science experiments etc.
Most of all they are both very excited to see their cousin Logan-Marie.
I do have to mention that my DD decided sh wanted to find baby mouse and feed it milk via an eye dropper and keep it in her room in a little homemade bed. Now normally I would look at and idea given and listen to the reasoning....not in this case. She just kept going on how cute it would be to find a little baby mouse... I had to interupt her telling her that I am so sorry but there will NEVER be a time when she or her brother will be allowed to bring a mouse into our home!! You would think I told her some horrible news. Now she should be a lawyer because she kept arguing her case until I stopped her and firmly said...." I said there will be NO MICE in our home..end of story. LMAO

Well We will see what happned this summer. I plan on going o the web and googling all the cool things to do this summer.I also plan on keeping a summer journal on my blog updating you with how things are going.
